What is the Love Thy Neighbor Challenge?
The Love Thy Neighbor Challenge is a nationwide movement calling on 250 million Americans to each commit one act of love toward their neighbors in honor of America's 250th anniversary in 2026. It is hosted and powered by the Devotion app — a spiritual wellness platform for people of all faiths seeking daily connection, meaning, and purpose.
What counts as an act of love?
Any genuine act of kindness, service, or generosity directed at another person. Feed someone hungry. Call someone lonely. Help a neighbor with their groceries. Volunteer at a shelter. Leave an encouraging note. Pray for someone. There is no act too small — love is measured by intention, not scale.
How do I log my act of love?
Download the Devotion app (coming soon to iOS and Android) and log your act in the Love Thy Neighbor challenge section. You'll be able to track your contributions, see the national counter grow, and share your story with the community.
Is this connected to America's 250th anniversary?
Yes. On July 4, 2026, America celebrates its 250th anniversary. The Love Thy Neighbor Challenge is our way of honoring that milestone not with fireworks alone, but with the kind of love that built this country — neighbor by neighbor, act by act.
Is this only for Christians?
No. "Love your neighbor" is a command that appears in the Torah, the Bible, and the Quran. The Love Thy Neighbor Challenge welcomes people of every faith tradition — and people of no religious affiliation at all. Love is universal. So is this challenge.
